Cookie Policy
Last updated: 28 August 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Drift Journal Pro uses cookies and similar browser storage when you visit driftjournalpro.pro. We keep tracking to a minimum — this journal does not run advertising networks or social media pixels.
1. What are cookies and local storage
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. Local storage is a related browser feature that can persist simple preference values. Both help websites remember choices between visits. Some cookies are set by third parties when you allow optional features such as embedded maps.
2. How we use them
Essential / preference storage
When you respond to the cookie banner, we store your choice in local storage under the key djp_cookie_consent. Values may be:
- essential — only necessary site operation;
- all — acknowledges optional third-party cookies from embedded services.
This storage is required to honour your decision and avoid asking on every page load. It does not track browsing on other websites.
Functional third-party cookies
The contact page embeds a Google Map showing our Tiong Bahru studio location. Google may set its own cookies or use similar technologies subject to Google's Privacy Policy. We do not control Google's processing.
3. What we do not use
- Advertising or remarketing cookies;
- Cross-site profiling or analytics dashboards on this Site;
- Social media share trackers embedded in pages.
Google Ads may measure ad performance independently when you arrive via an advertisement; that measurement is controlled by Google and the advertiser console, not by cookies we set for editorial content.
4. Managing preferences
You can change your choice at any time by clearing local storage for driftjournalpro.pro and reloading a page — the banner will return. Most browsers also let you block third-party cookies globally or delete existing cookies through settings. Blocking all cookies may affect whether the map embed loads, but the rest of the journal remains readable with JavaScript disabled.
5. Retention
Consent preferences remain until you clear them or until we change storage keys during a technical upgrade, in which case you may be prompted again. Google cookie retention periods are determined by Google.
6. Browser-specific guidance
In Chrome, open Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies to restrict cross-site tracking. In Safari, Intelligent Tracking Prevention may already limit third-party cookies from map embeds. Firefox users can enable Enhanced Tracking Protection. Mobile browsers usually expose similar controls under Privacy menus. Because our essential consent flag uses local storage rather than HTTP cookies, clearing cookies alone may not reset your banner choice — use site data or storage clearing for driftjournalpro.pro specifically.
7. Interaction with JavaScript
The cookie banner and map loader are implemented in our single site script at /js/main.js. If JavaScript is disabled, the banner remains hidden by default and maps will not load — editorial text on every page remains fully readable, which is intentional. We do not hide content behind scripts.
8. Server logs
Our hosting provider may process technical logs that include IP address and user agent strings. These are not stored in your browser as cookies but may be considered personal data under the PDPA when linked to an identifiable individual. Logs are used for security and diagnostics only; see our Privacy Policy for retention.
9. Updates
We may update this policy if we add features that require new storage categories. The date at the top will change when we do. Material additions that require new consent will be presented through the cookie banner.
