Terms of Service
Last updated: 28 August 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of driftjournalpro.pro (the "Site") operated by Drift Journal Pro from Singapore. By accessing the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you disagree, please discontinue use.
1. About Drift Journal Pro
Drift Journal Pro is a personal writing journal maintained by Maya Tan. The Site publishes essays, reading notes, city observations, and selected reader correspondence. Occasional small-group writing workshops may be offered. The Site is an independent creative project — it does not provide legal, medical, financial, or therapeutic advice.

2. Acceptable use
You agree to use the Site lawfully and respectfully. You must not:
- Attempt unauthorized access to server areas, forms, or data directories;
- Submit malware, automated spam, or content that harasses, threatens, or defames others;
- Scrape content at a rate that impairs site performance;
- Misrepresent your identity in correspondence or impersonate the author;
- Reproduce substantial portions of the Site for commercial republication without written permission;
- Use contact channels for unsolicited bulk advertising.
We may restrict access or refuse service to users who violate these rules or applicable Singapore law.
3. Intellectual property
Unless otherwise noted, all essays, photographs commissioned for the Site, layout, and branding are owned by Drift Journal Pro or used under license. Stock photography displayed on journal pages is used under license from third-party libraries; those images are not available for separate download or reuse.
You may:
- Read and share links to pages for personal, non-commercial purposes;
- Quote brief excerpts with clear attribution and a link to the source page.
You may not republish full essays, sell Site content, or create derivative works for commercial distribution without prior written consent. Reader correspondence published on the Correspondence page remains the intellectual property of its authors; we publish with permission only.
4. User submissions
When you send messages through the contact form or email:
- You confirm the content is yours to share and does not infringe third-party rights;
- You grant us a non-exclusive license to use your message solely to respond and, if separately agreed in writing, to edit and publish correspondence;
- You understand we cannot guarantee publication, workshop placement, or a minimum response time, though we aim to reply within several business days.
We may remove or refuse submissions that contain hate speech, illegal material, or private information about third parties without consent.
5. Workshops and paid sessions
Writing circles or talks announced on the Site or by email are subject to separate confirmation messages detailing date, venue, capacity, and participation fee where applicable. Fees are quoted individually before booking — there is no standing price catalogue on the Site. Payment instructions, cancellation windows, and refund conditions will be stated in your confirmation. Unless otherwise specified, cancellations made at least seven days before the session may receive a full refund minus reasonable administrative costs already incurred.
6. Accuracy of workshop information
Workshop descriptions on the Site are invitations to enquire, not binding offers. A seat is confirmed only when you receive a written confirmation email specifying date, time, venue, and any participation fee. We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule sessions due to low enrolment, illness, or venue unavailability; in such cases prepaid fees are refunded or credited. Materials lists, if any, are shared before payment so you can decide whether to participate.
7. Accessibility
We aim to choose workshop venues with step-free access when possible. Notify us of mobility, hearing, or other access needs during enquiry so we can advise suitability or propose alternatives.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The Site and its content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not warrant uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or that content is complete for every reader's purpose. Personal essays reflect the author's perspective at the time of writing and may be updated or corrected editorially without notice.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Singapore law, Drift Journal Pro and Maya Tan shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of the Site, reliance on journal content, or participation in optional workshops. Our aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Site shall not exceed the amount you paid us for workshops in the twelve months preceding the claim, or one hundred Singapore dollars if no payment was made.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Drift Journal Pro from claims arising out of your misuse of the Site, your submissions, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law, except where caused by our wilful misconduct.
11. Third-party services and links
The Site may link to external booksellers, maps, or references. Third-party services have their own terms. Enabling Google Maps requires your cookie consent and is governed by Google's policies. We are not responsible for third-party content or availability.
12. Privacy
Personal data handling is described in our Privacy Policy, incorporated into these Terms by reference.
13. Changes
We may revise these Terms to reflect operational or legal updates. The "Last updated" date will change accordingly. Material changes affecting workshop participants will be communicated directly when feasible. Continued use after posting constitutes acceptance of non-material updates.
Archived copies of prior Terms may be available on request for reference if a dispute arises about wording in effect at the time of your workshop booking.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore. Parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections that may apply in your jurisdiction if you access the Site from abroad.
Before commencing formal proceedings, parties agree to attempt good-faith resolution by written notice describing the dispute and allowing thirty days for response. This clause does not prevent either party from seeking urgent injunctive relief where necessary.
15. Severability
If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. The invalid provision will be replaced with one that closest reflects the original intent within legal limits.
16. Force majeure
We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond reasonable control, including natural disasters, widespread network outages, hosting failures, or government actions affecting connectivity in Singapore.
17. Language
These Terms are written in English. Translated versions provided for convenience do not override the English text if inconsistencies arise.
18. Entire agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Drift Journal Pro regarding use of the Site, superseding prior oral or written understandings on the same subject.
No waiver of any term is effective unless in writing signed by Drift Journal Pro. Failure to enforce a provision on one occasion does not waive the right to enforce it later.
19. Assignment
We may assign or transfer rights and obligations under these Terms in connection with a reorganization or sale of the journal project, provided the successor honors existing privacy commitments. You may not assign your rights without our written consent. Any assignment will not reduce protections for personal data already collected under our Privacy Policy.
20. Contact
Questions about these Terms may concern workshop bookings, quotation of excerpts, or technical access issues. Provide the page URL and date you accessed the Site so we can help efficiently.
